I love this place and recommend it to everyone. The love and care put into it each room and the grounds is amazing. It is quaint yet modern features. Sit around a fire outside, in a gazebo with soft music. Swing in a hammock than take a warm shower, get in your king bed and watch your big screen TV. Downtown is only down the road with great restaurants, candy shops and shops. I come for Bluegrass Festival & Christmas.

Really loved this place and was disappointed we hadn't found it on any of our previous trips to Grass Valley. Even though it's a little out-of-town, it's an easy walk to downtown GV. The bed was quite comfortable and the whole unit was well-appointed. We'll certainly stay here again!

The Pines Inn and Cottages are very quaint and beautiful! Tony the owner is very kind and friendly and helpful as our original reservation didn't work online, but he accommodated us and we appreciate it! It's a quaint little cabin-like room. The heater is awesome and Tony had it running for us to warm the place up for our arrival. We love the fun colors that were chosen for the little kitchenette area and the bathroom!! Incredibly clean room and the sheets were lovely and soft!! Thank you! We highly recommend!

Great little cozy spot just out of downtown GV. Very clean, great grounds with sitting areas, darts, croquet, disc golf basket, bocce, little pond with koi and frogs… The room was just what we needed. All of the amenities, and even cherries on top like robes and slippers for those with smaller feet (I’m size 13) Communication and check in was a breeze. And I love how close it was to town. Having said that it’s on a busier road so there’s that. Will definitely comeback to this lovely little gem in the pines.

Wonderful place, showers were fantastic with multiple options for shower heads. The room included a (small) full size fridge, microwave, coffee pot, tea pot, hot plate, pans and utensils. Beautiful space outside, the owner was friendly and helpful. Exceeded expectations in every way, and at a very reasonable price.

Recently I experienced a flood in my home in Grass Valley, Ca. I was very fortunate to discover the lovely Pines Inn and Cottages. This is the silver lining in my personal nightmare. Me and my dog had to vacate our home while repairs are done. This lovely Inn is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in and definitely the most comfortable bed. Our rooms decor had a full refrigerator & gas stove in it's kitchen, quilts on the bed w/armoire, eating area, and a beautiful bathroom. I sat out on the porch looking out over the beautiful grounds w/koi pond. I highly recommend this establishment, I've lived in Nevada Co. for forty years and this quiet little Inn is definitely the nicest I've stayed in and pet friendly as well. I definitely will be going back.

It was very nice, at times. A little loud sometimes, and quality does depend on which room you’re in. We enjoyed the company of Tony and Ty, minus the unpredictable hostility and defensiveness that manifested here and there. Tony did express that he does not like firefighters. So, if you are in that line of work, this may not be the place for you. I grew up in NY, where firefighters are extremely well-respected and where I saw a multitude of my friends lose their firefighter fathers to mesothelioma after 9/11, or lose them in the towers, so I felt that the most diplomatic course was to ignore that assertion. But it did make me uncomfortable and while I appreciated the quality of the cabin, the care he puts into the grounds and the generous provision of donuts—it honestly was off-putting and really stuck with me. Especially because we were staying after a pretty big house fire. Overall, I found Tony and Ty to be generous, good hosts and conscientious in many ways. But Tony can have a bit of a mean streak that manifests in little snide or rude remarks, and doesn’t address directly what drives that behavior. Shouldn’t matter too much if you’re there just a few days, but long-term, it’s something to consider.
